Old Settlers' Days is a festive event, a trip back in time that commemorates the lifestyle and the people who were the earliest residents and first builders of Salem. Held in late September every year, thousands of visitors gather at The John Hay Center and quickly find themselves surrounded by blacksmiths at work, quilting, woodcarving and all kinds of crafts, pony soldiers and their encampments, fiddlers, and an assortment of reenactments.
