Annually, the 2nd weekend in September
The Mt. Vernon River Days event was the brain child of a few individuals putting together an event to celebrate a flatboat arriving in Mt. Vernon to honor Abraham Lincoln's birthday and bring the community to our riverfront. During that initial discussion of approx. 9 community minded individuals, they decided to reproduce the event yearly, making it bigger and better each year. This will be our 5th Annual event and thanks to the support of our community and a lot of hard work from a group of wonderful volunteers, yet again, we have grown tremendously since last year.

Historical crafts, exhibits, craft vendors, food booths, entertainment, bar-b-q cook-off, adult and children's activities, pet & evening parade, fireworks, car show, and lots of fun!!! We also strive to bring in a large attraction each year that will help showcase our Riverfront.
